Which presidential candidate did your neighbor donate to?

The Washington Post (registration required) has an article about a new web site, www.fundrace.org, that allows you to track which candidate your neighbors have been giving to.

Entering the address for the Pioneer Valley AFL-CIO (640 Page Blvd. in Springfield) uncovered some very interesting results. Overall, donations to the Democratic candidates far outnumber donations to Bush. That's to be expected in Massachusetts, a stronghold for the Democratic party.

More interesting was the ability to see some familiar names turn up in the search. An old friend of the Pioneer Valley AFL-CIO and former Mayor of Holyoke, Daniel Szostkiewicz, gave $500 to Kerry. State Representative Gale Candaras also gave $500.

Executives at Mass Mutual were seen all over the place, almost all of them giving at the $2000 level, the new federal limit for individuals. The insurance giant appear to be hedging their bets on the upcoming campaign, giving to both Kerry and Bush in profuse amounts. Many executives gave $2000 to both candidates.

Members of the Picknelly family are backing the Democrats, with Peter Sr., Judith, Mary, and Paul Picknelly giving a total of $3500 to John Kerry. The Picknelly's stand out from most business owners and executives who, judging by the list, are backing Bush.

So who is your neighbor supporting? See for yourself at www.fundrace.org.
