AFL-CIO President John Sweeney Joins Other Leaders Representing Millions to Counter Bush's Plans to Privatize Social Security

AFL-CIO President John Sweeney will join leaders representing tens of millions working Americans to counter President Bush's economic conference promoting his plan to privatize Social Security in a press conference Thursday, December 16 at 12:30pm at the National Press Club.

Leaders of the group include President Sweeney, NAACP Chairman Julian Bond, NOW President Kim Gandy, Alliance for Retired Americans President George Kourpias and Marty Ford of the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities

The speakers, none of whom were invited to the president's economic summit, represent labor, seniors, women, civil rights, disability and other activists nationwide.
